From the Instapundit: MORE UNSURPRISING NEWS: The Army psychiatrist believed to have killed 13 people at Fort Hood warned a roomful of senior Army physicians a year and a half ago that to avoid “adverse events,” the military should allow Muslim soldiers to be released as conscientious objectors instead of fighting in wars against other Muslims. . . . In late June 2007, he stood before his supervisors and about 25 other mental health staff members and lectured on Islam, suicide bombers and threats the military could encounter from Muslims conflicted about fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, both Muslim countries, according to a copy of the presentation obtained by The Washington Post. “It’s getting harder and harder for Muslims in the service to morally justify being in a military that seems constantly engaged against fellow Muslims,” he said in the presentation. “It was really strange,” said one staff member who attended the presentation and requested anonymity because of the investigation of Hasan. “The senior doctors looked really upset” at the end. These medical presentations occurred each Wednesday afternoon, and other students had lectured on new medications and treatment of specific mental illnesses. . . . The last bullet point on that page reads simply: “We love death more then (sic) you love life!” But, you know, if you’d complained someone might have called you a racist. This isn't about having a go at Muslims generally. Saw one on the TV, wearing the uniform and based at Fort Hood as well, repudiating what Hasan did. It's more a comment on the left-leaning media tying itself in knots trying to avoid the elephant in the room, ie Hasan's clear religious motivation for what he did. Tim Blair list some of the absolving "medical" diagnoses made in the media: Mass-murderer Major Nidal Hasan has thus far been diagnosed as suffering from: • Post-traumatic stress disorder • Pre-traumatic stress disorder • Post-traumatic stress disorder by proxy • Prospective traumatic stress disorder • Compassion fatigue And … • Vicarious trauma Now Time magazine offers the latest medical opinion, also prior to Hasan offering a single word of explanation himself ("Allahu akbar” evidently doesn’t count). He’s suffering from: • Secondary trauma But apparently some of the 9/11 perpetrators weren't the only jihadis who like to go to strip clubs prior to doing their holy warrior thing: (CBS)  A devout Muslim man and U.S. Army psychiatrist accused of killing 13 people at Fort Hood last week liked to indulge in lap dances during visits to a local strip joint, the club's manager told FoxNews.com. "The last time he was here, I remember checking his military ID at the door, and he paid his $15 cover and stayed for six or seven hours," Matthew Jones, general manager of Starz, told the Web site of Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan. And finally, also from Tim Blair: US ABC News reports: U.S. intelligence agencies were aware months ago that Army Major Nidal Malik Hasan was attempting to make contact with people associated with al Qaeda, two American officials briefed on classified material in the case told ABC News. According to the officials, the Army was informed of Hasan’s contact, but it is unclear what, if anything, the Army did in response.
