Britain is wasting billions of pounds on wind turbines and solar panels because politicians dare not challenge the exaggerated claims about global warming made by scientists, according to the world’s highest-ranking climate sceptic. Vaclav Klaus, president of the Czech Republic, said many world leaders had privately told him they shared his scepticism about the dangers of climate change but feared it would be political suicide to admit their doubts publicly. President Klaus was speaking to The Times on a visit to London to deliver the inaugural annual lecture of the Global Warming Policy Foundation, the sceptic think-tank founded by Lord Lawson of Blaby.
