Our traffic last month smashed all our previous records. The blog registered more than 2 million page impressions from more than 300,000 unique browsers.
Our previous record for page impressions was 1.3 million.
We were already tracking to a record month in November .... and then came Climategate. Our traffic on the Saturday it broke was more than eight times that of the Saturday before. When other mainstream media outlets ran dead on the story, interested readers had nowhere else to go but to a handful of blogs, which luckily included mine.
How fascinating that competitors such as ABC On-line - or the green blogs of The Age, Sydney Morning Herald, Crikey and the Courier Mail - preferred for many days to do nothing on Climategate even though it cost them potentially hundreds of thousands - if not millions - of hits. Was it that they’d rather defend their warmist faith rather than report on the greatest scientific scandal in decades? Would they rather be pure than popular?
Normally I thank only you, the readers, for your continued support and generous help in this blog’s steady progress. But this time I must also thank its competitors for driving so many people to it out of sheer necessity for information.
